Western Vikings started the 2006/07 season with a hard fought victory in the opening game of the Manx Shield.
At Mooragh Park, Western Vikings just edged out Northern Spaniards 19-17 in a opening day thriller. Richard Little, James Watson and Tim Callow all touched down for Vikings with Mark Venables kicking two vital conversions. For the Spaniards, new skipper Pete Walkom celebrated his first shield game in charge with a try and a conversion and there were two tries for talented youngster Lee Camillleri.
